The end of Exams are upon us and the whole of Gainesville is clearing out. Local business are expect to have shorter hours, so be prepared and have a happy holiday.

There is a block of industrial buildings has come under fire as they have sat vacant for the last year. There is a movement to destroy the buildings in preparation for a residential complex. Their are some that argue that if the buildings are demolished the city will only become further dependent on the University of Florida for employment basically giving the University the monopoly on employment for the city.

Christmas Parties aplenty in Haile Plantation. The Jet Set are certainly making this year brighter for many at the St. Philopia home for wayward boys as proceeds from these galas are all going towards the school.
December 1st, 2011 -Environmental Concerns
In the last weeks, there has been a grassroots effort to clean up a little known part of the Sante Fe River. This area, known as the ‘Suck Hole’ has been a place of some debauchery as of late and the same students that have played in creating its polluted state have now swarmed back to help clean it. Some interesting tales are being told of the area being haunted.

At Shands @ UF a miraculous surgery has taken place. A man of 52, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been given a second chance at life. This man lost his legs in 2000 in a motorcycle accident. Doctors at the hospital led by Dr. Corbin Numen have hard wired into his nervous system prosthetic legs that look and move like the real thing. It is truly a remarkable day for the Medical World.
December 1st, 2011 – Police News
There is a ball being held for the family of officers killed in the local gang war on the East side. Officer Sean McMullen and Frank Burns were shot and killed last week during what should have been routine traffic stop. The man hunt is still ongoing for two men about six feet tall and weighing 250 and 275 lbs.
Decemeber 1st, 2011 – University Beat
Despite the recent scandals in the Panhellenic set at University of Florida, the brothers and sisters are organizing a Christmas fundraiser for the local shelters. They will be holding a carnival this coming weekend and admission is $5.00 and a nonperishable food item. It will be held on the Reitz Union Lawn.
